Dear Mr Obama, President of the United States
Permanent Member of Security Council
Yesterday, we were greeted with heartbreaking news of merciless killings in the Middle East.
In light of the tragic incidents in the Gaza, the conflicts are no longer isolated between the Palestinians and the Israelis. There are activists from 13 different nations who have initiated movements to provide aid and assistance to the Gaza strip, one of which is Malaysia. Therefore, we, the Malaysians have found ourselves to now be personally disturbed as the Malaysian activists who had only in good faith, initiated movements to provide aid and assistance to the needy in the Gaza strip are trapped in the middle of a brutal war. Their only fault is that they have selflessly volunteered to provide food supplies, medicines, equipments and appliances, but are now caught in the middle of a horrible crisis. There are also reports that soldiers dropped from a helicopter and opened fire onto a deck of Turkish ship, catching them by surprise. They were on a humanitarian mission. A surprised attack on unarmed activists such as this certainly tops the height the cruelty.
Most shockingly, the unwarranted attacks have occurred in international waters, a blatant breach of international laws. These attacks are clearly a disrespect of the fundamental human rights which the world, including your sovereign nation, is advocating for. Surely no person in their right mind will agree to such disproportionately cruel attacks against unarmed activists.
This is certainly a tragic enough incident that can be prevented and should be prevented at all cost.
The unarmed freedom flotilla was stormed by the Israeli troops resulting in the death of more than 10 innocent lives. We do not have any form of assurance as to whether the killings will cease with immediate effect. Regardless of the cause of conflict, the mercilessly killings of an unarmed citizen of a sovereign nation is completely unacceptable. The attacks intervening the convoy providing assistance, clearly indicates the utter arrogance of the Israelis to prevent any aid into Gaza. The value of innocent lives are no longer respected and treated with the deserved dignity.
This unfortunate incident only calls more urgently the resolution of the Gaza crisis.
We, the Malaysian Youth, strongly urge your administration to censure such cruel acts of violence which are entirely unjustified and also to take an affirmative action to resolve the attacks and also to secure the release of the people with immediate effect.
We cannot hold our silence any longer and we also call for a transparent inquiry of the killings by the security council of the United Nations and that the appropriate punishment be sentenced. The lost of innocent lives can never be compensated. Condolences and sympathies will not suffice at all.
We call for a secure passage for the crossing of humanitarian aid to the needy in Gaza.
We strongly appeal upon your administration to impose strict sanctions on the Israeli government until they will agree to resume peace negotiations so as to reach an amicable resolution of the deadly conflict that has been plaguing long enough for the past decades. Affirmative action is now more than crucial than ever that there is a widespread condemnation of the ugly killings of the civilians.
Every minute counts and time is of the essence, we wait anxiously for your response and the affirmative action of your administration to resolve the killings without further delay.
