KUALA LUMPUR: The latest video posted in several blogs showing a man alleged to be opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is further proof of dirty tactics used by Barisan Nasional, opposition leaders say.
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, when contacted by The Mole, said, “The nearer we are to the general election, we can expect more of these videos to be out soon.”
“Umno-BN has a track record of making things up out of nowhere. So this latest video came as no surprise to me,” Saifuddin added.
The Machang MP also believes the bloggers involved will intensify their efforts to bring down Anwar with further videos with ambiguous content.
“The reason why they are free to do all this is because no authority, Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) or the police, is taking any actions against them.”
PKR Youth leader Shamsul Iskandar Mohammad Akin echoed Saifuddin’s sentiments, saying the latest video is “nothing.”
“The video does not show anything but a picture of the robe and footage of a man said to resemble Anwar.”
Asked about the flight details raised by bloggers, which allegedly show Anwar was in Bangkok on January 12 and January 13 this year, Shamsul said those details can easily be made up.
“What is pertinent in this issue is how BN does not have any concrete tactics to counter the policies made by Pakatan Rakyat. That’s why they have to resort to all these,” he said.
Shamsul asked, “What’s next after this? I am not surprised if after this if there is a video showing a girl confessing she had sex with Anwar.”
“When will all these stop?”
He said all the personal attacks in politics should be stopped by both BN and the opposition.
