PW1 further testified in cross examination that he idolised DSAI when he joined DSAI’s election campaign team for the 2008 General Election and worked as his aide. Excerpts of SP’s testimony are reproduced below:
S: kamu berminat masa itu bekerja dengan Dato Seri Anwar?
J: Beliau memang idola saya sebelum ini”
– However, Najwan (DW 6), a college mate of PW1 debunked PW1’s testimony and testified that it was a blatant lie and that all along, from college days, PW’1 did not like DSAI and even labelled him as “pemimpin munafiq” (a leader who is a hypocrite) and never idolized DSAI. Excerpts of Najwan’s testimony are reproduced below:
“S: Adakah sebelum itu sebelum Najwan tahu Saiful bekerja dengan Dato’ Seri Anwar ada tak pernah dengar daripada sesiapa atau dari Saiful dia mengidolasikan Dato’ Seri Anwar?
J: Dia tidak pernah mengidolakan Dato’ Seri Anwar.
S: Atau memandang tinggi terhadap Dato’ Seri Anwar?
J: Tidak pernah. Sepanjang perkenalan saya beliau merupakan seorang pelajar yang pro kepada pemerintah dan tidak pernah menunjukkan kecenderungan atau minat sama sekali
kepada kepimpinan Dato’ Seri Anwar”
