We strongly condemn the United States’ Congress to approve the immediate disbursement of USD225 million to support Israel’s missile defense system in the current crisis. This financial disbursement is inappropriate and uncalled for as it contradicts the role of United States as the supposedly neutral “peace-maker” in the Palestine-Israel conflict. This so-called “state action” has compromised the impartiality of the United States to mediate the conflict and consequently undermine the Oslo Accord.
We strongly urge the United States government to fully utilize its resources to mediate the conflict and find a strategic pathway towards a “two state solution” recommended by the United Nations resolution.
We condemn the justification for the allotment on the grounds of Israel’s self defense. Based on current fatalities, there are more than 1700 deaths involving predominantly Palestinian civilians which certainly does not justify Israel’s action on the premise of “self defense” as provided in the United Nations Charter. Israel’s conduct in this war is an act of terror, a crime against humanity and an absolute violation to the core principles of the law of armed conflict, where the target should only be combatants, and not civilians!
To this end, we hereby demand the following:
1. For the United States government to urgently retract the approval as it contradicts the role of United States as an impartial peace-maker to the conflict;
2. For the United States government to disengage itself from the provision of any weaponry and ammunition to Israel on the grounds of self defense; and
3. For the United States government to mediate the conflict in finding the pathway for a two state solution line with the Oslo Accord.
4. The illegal occupation of Palestine and the aggression against the Palestinians by the Israeli state has to end.
We, Malaysians and denizens of the World, demand swift actions by the United States government to mediate peace in the conflict urgently.
